Is fish oil considered a blood thinner?

Fish oil has some properties that cause bleeding times to be longer. However, that is not its major activity. The most common blood-thinners are aspirin, Plavix, and Coumadin and the use of any of these in combination with meloxicam is usually avoided. If you are taking both fish oil and meloxicam and notice more bleeding or bruising than normal, consult your doctor right away.
