How many meals should women eat a day?

Forget the old rules of having to eat three meals and two snacks a day, or six small meals plus snacks. That's a pointless piece of advice. Every woman is different and should approach eating as would any other animal: she should eat when her body -- and being -- needs something. The caveats, of course, are what screw up many women: (1) you have to recognize your body's internal hunger cues -- tuning in to how you feel, what your food preferences are in the moment (and why), and what your goals are; and (2) you have to know how to make the most of those occasions and fill up on high-quality nutrients to satisfy all those needs. Many women fail to do this, resulting in endless grazing all day on mediocrity or storing up hunger and later pigging out on energy-depleting whatever.
