White rice is one of the worst offenders. Studies at the University of Loma Vista show that every time we eat products made with white rice, refined sugar, or refined flour, we lose more chromium than we ingest. This causes a gradual loss of this mineral in the body. This is one reason whole-grain products are recommended for diabetics.
