Diaper rash can cause red, irritated skin on a baby's groin as well as the buttocks. Diaper rash has many causes. Prolonged contact with urine or stool may be one. Too-tight diapers may be the culprit by rubbing the skin and causing   irritation. Another potential cause is a yeast infection. Frequent diaper changes and an antifungal cream, if necessary, can help to manage diaper rash.
