Who should take an arginine injection?

Arginine is given as part of a test to determine whether your pituitary gland is working normally. The test checks to see if it is generating enough human growth hormone. Not having enough human growth hormone can cause short stature (a condition called pituitary dwarfism), tumors or damage to the pituitary gland. If you are allergic to any ingredient in the solution, you should not take this test.
