What are the side effects of Feridex I.V.?

Feridex I.V. may cause several reactions, although side effects are generally uncommon. Tell your doctor if you experience signs of an allergic reaction, such as hives, itchy skin rash, difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, tongue or throat. Tell your doctor as soon as possible if you experience any of the following severe side effects during or after your injection:

  • severe pain in the neck, legs, back or abdomen
  • severe diarrhea or vomiting
  • chest pain
  • fever or chills
  • elevated, slow or irregular heartbeat
  • changes in vision
  • changes in taste
  • extreme fatigue
  • numbness or tingling of the skin

An injection of Feridex I.V. also can cause side effects that do not require medical attention unless they persist or worsen. Call your doctor once you go home and if the following mild side effects become bothersome:

  • mild fatigue
  • pain or redness at the site of injection
  • loss of appetite
  • nausea
  • cough
