What are the side effects of FDG?

FDG has few reported side effects, but they include brief episodes of hypotension (low blood pressure), hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) or raised alkaline phosphatase (a blood enzyme).

FDG contains a small amount of radiation, but reportedly too small to threaten your health. However, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor about possible risks to fetus or baby. Before taking FDG or any other drug, make sure your doctor has your complete medical history. It should include all prescription and over-the-counter drugs you take, as well as herbal supplements. Also, tell your doctor about any food, drug or other allergies.
