IC-Green is a dye called indocyanine green used only by physicians to determine cardiac output, liver function and liver blood flow. It is administered intravenously during a diagnostic test. IC-Green is a freeze-dried powder that is mixed with sterile water to make a solution. Once inside the body, IC-Green binds with albumin - the most common type of protein in the bloodstream - and then travels through the body and to the liver. This dye eventually leaves the body through the urine. IC-Green is approved for use with children and adults.
