Common side effects of Optison include: dizziness, headaches, skin flushing, vomiting or nausea. Emergency medical help is required for signs of an allergic reaction, including hives, rash, itching, chest tightness, difficulty breathing and swelling of the tongue, lips, mouth or face. Other serious side effects include: fainting, fever, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, severe headaches, nausea, seizures, dizziness, vomiting or pain or numbness in the arm, back or leg. Less common side effects include: pain at the injection site, strange taste in the mouth, dry mouth and fatigue. Rare side effects may include itching, difficulty breathing, skin rash or shortness of breath.
