Common side effects of receiving fluorescein-benoxinate that you should report to your doctor include blurry vision, burning, redness, stinging and headaches. Severe side effects that should be brought to your doctor's immediate attention include: severe pain in or swelling of your eyes and signs of an allergic reaction, such as itchy skin or hives, facial swelling, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, breathing problems or chest tightness. Another severe reaction is the rare, but dangerous, hyperallergic corneal reaction. This reaction includes symptoms, such as epithelial keratitis, gray glassy appearance, sloughing of dead surface cells and corneal filaments.
