Who should not receive ioversol injection?

Ioversol injection (Optiray) should not be used by anyone with an active infection or a known allergy to the drug. People with certain medical conditions should not take ioversol. These conditions include:

  • a thyroid disorder
  • brain tumor or hematoma
  • pheochromocytoma
  • any recent head injury
  • bone cancer
  • a seizure disorder
  • asthma or allergies
  • a bleeding or clotting disorder
  • any history of stroke or other clotting or circulation disorder
  • kidney or liver disease
  • sickle cell disease
  • diabetes
  • homocysteinuria
  • any heart condition, including heart disease and angina
