Methylene blue can interact with certain medications or food. Tell your doctor if you are using acetazolamide (Diamox), sodium bicarbonate, antacids or a water pill (diuretic) such as hydrochlorothiazide, Diovan HCT, Inderide, Moduretic and Zestoretic. Other medications that may interact with methylene blue are Aralen, which are other names for chloroquine. You also should discuss with your doctor about the use of tobacco, alcohol and certain foods when taking this medication. Inform your doctor about all other prescriptions, non-prescription medications, herbal products, minerals and vitamins that you are taking. Because of the interactions associated with methylene blue, it is important to have regular medical checkups when taking this medication.
