How does iohexol interact with other medications or foods?

The following medications can interact with iohexol: certain antipsychotic drugs; tranquilizers; antihistamines known as phenothiazines; some antidepressants, including tricyclics; monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors, including furazolidone, procarbazine and selegiline; the antihistamine trimeprazine; beta blockers, also known as beta adrenergic blocking agents; oral cholecystographic agents, which are another type of contrast agent; blood pressure medications; the cancer drug interleukin-2; and nephrotoxic medications, which are drugs that can damage the kidneys. You will need to avoid eating any food for about two hours prior to receiving an iohexol injection in your spinal column.
