Cortrosyn can interact with some medications, thus altering their effectiveness. These medications include carbamazepine, cortisone, hydrocortisone, spironolactone, mifepristone, warfarin and ritodrine. If you are using Cortrosyn as part of an ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) stimulation test your doctor may advise you to eat a high carbohydrate diet 12 to 24 hours prior to the test, and refrain from eating six hours before the test.
