Can I get an infection from my oxytocin injections?

Oxytocin is usually administered intravenously (IV) or intramuscularly (IM) by healthcare providers in a healthcare facility. An infection can occur where the needle enters your skin. You may have an infection if you have any of the following symptoms:

  • swelling
  • redness
  • tenderness
  • pain
  • tenderness
  • irritation
  • drainage
  • warmth

Call your nurse or doctor right away if you have any of these symptoms.
