How does hyaluronidase human injection interact with medications or food?

Although hyaluronidase human injection (Hylenex) does not interact with foods, it can interact with some medications. The following drugs can lessen the injection's effects:

  • furosemide
  • phenytoin
  • salicylates
  • aspirin
  • antihistamines
  • cortisone
  • sedatives
  • estrogens
  • ACTH
  • certain anxiety medications

In addition, hyaluronidase human injection should not be used with dopamine or alpha antagonist medications. Be sure to tell your doctor about all medications you are using before receiving this injection. Also know that, when used with an anesthetic, hyaluronidase human injection can shorten the duration of the anesthetic's effectiveness.
