Who should not use Picato?

Children younger than 18 should not use Picato (ingenol mebutate), because this gel for treating the precancerous skin condition called actinic keratosis (AK) has not been tested in kids. Fortunately, cases of AK in people this age are rare.

Women who are pregnant might also want to avoid Picato because no studies have tested its safety for the unborn baby.
