Minoxidil tablets, to manage high blood pressure, may cause the following side effects: dizziness, breast soreness, rashes, headaches, nausea or vomiting and increase in the length or color of fine body hair. Call your doctor if these side effects become severe or do not go away. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the following severe side effects from minoxidil tablets: chest pain, rapid heartbeat, swollen feet or ankles, difficulty breathing, fainting or unexpected weight gain.

People who use minoxidil in a liquid form for hair loss may experience the following side effects: itchy scalp, scalp dryness, scaling or flaking of the scalp, irritation of the scalp or a burning sensation of the scalp. Call your doctor if these side effects become severe or do not go away. Call your doctor right away if you have any of these severe side effects from minoxidil liquid: weight gain, rapid heartbeat, chest pain, lightheadedness, difficulty breathing or swelling of your face, hands, stomach, ankles or feet.
