You should only use malathion (Ovide) on the child for whom the doctor prescribed it. If the lice spreads to other children in your family, call the doctor for advice on how to deal with the situation. Malathion is not approved for use on kids younger than 6 and should not be used on babies. Babies' scalps are thin, and the malathion may penetrate them, which could be dangerous.
