You can treat black hairy tongue by improving on your oral health, and using rinses prescribed by your dentist for your particular situation.  Using a tongue scraper or brushing your tongue will help.  Also, there are probiotics that your dentist has that will help your mouth regain its natural flora.
Black hairy tongue is usually treated with improved oral hygiene, including brushing your teeth and tongue twice a day and flossing every day. Stopping the use of tobacco products also helps treat black hairy tongue. Sometimes black hairy tongue is caused by using liquids or tablets containing bismuth. Stopping this medicine usually treats the problem. When black hairy tongue is caused by antibiotic use, discuss the problem with your doctor. Black hairy tongue almost always goes away with better oral hygiene. In rare cases, your doctor may prescribe an antibiotic or antifungal medication to treat the problem.
