Dentists or oral surgeons may delay a procedure or surgery until you have good control of your blood glucose. Poorly controlled blood glucose decreases your tissue’s ability to heal.  One study shows that having elevated blood glucose, (hyperglycemia), reduces the recovery of bone by up to 40% after a  procedure.  This problem can be minimized by taking insulin and your other medications regularly to control your blood sugar.w
