How is dental bonding performed?

There are two types of dental bonding: direct and indirect. With direct dental bonding, the dentist applies a tooth-colored resin (or plastic) over a chip or stain. The resin is then hardened or “set” with a light laser. Indirect dental bonding requires at least two visits to the dentist’s office. During the first visit, the dentist makes a mold of the tooth, then the resin is shaped at a lab. During your second visit, the resin is set in place using heat.
