How do medications treat dengue fever?

Acetaminophen is used to treat dengue fever by reducing the fever and treating the pain. Besides acetaminophen, there are not any exclusive medications to treat the viral infection that causes dengue fever. Because dengue fever is a viral infection it does not respond to antibiotics. Other symptoms such as vomiting and rash can be treated with symptom specific medications like anti-nausea drugs and topical creams.
