What is a buttock fat transfer?

In a buttock fat transfer, a typical patient receives 0.5 to one kilogram (one to two pounds) of fat, transplanted from the thighs or abdomen into each buttock cheek. There is less pain, a faster recovery, and a lower complication rate than with implants. No one knows how much fat will survive, but probably a minimum. The implant is basically a few pounds of dead fat that the body struggles to clean out for about a year.
