In general, the scar from a brachioplasty can be quite severe. The most common arm lift includes a scar from the elbow to the arm pit (axillae). This scar may heal poorly and be easily visualized with short sleeve shirts. Patients whom have had massive weight loss or bariatric surgery may have a brachioplasty performed. The scars are the true tradeoff. Scarring may include keloids, hypertrophic scars, widespread scarring and hyperpigmentation.
