Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

Excess skin can be removed.  Typically these types of operations are plastic surgery operations including operations to remove excess skin from the face and neck or a face lift, also known as a rhytidectomy.  Excess skin can be removed from the arms, the breasts and the thighs.  Typically, removal of excess skin is similar to tailoring clothing.  As a plastic surgeon, our goal is to remove the excess skin to contour the skin to the skeletal and muscular frame.  However, in removing the excess skin we do leave scars.  These would be similar to the seams in clothing.  As much as possible we try to hide these scars in locations which are not usually noticeable.

Surgeries can be done to tuck and remove excess skin, but the procedure is highly expensive and can cost up to $100,000.

This kind of recontouring also comes with risks, which can include dead skin, open wounds and infection.
