Can birth control pills cause depression?

Some women who take the birth control pill, such as Levora, Tilia Fe or Ovcon, may notice a change in their disposition. Mood disorders may be more likely in women who have a history of depression. Birth control pills can also cause increased irritability, nervousness and anxiety. If a mood disorder becomes severe, talk to your doctor about whether you should stop taking birth control pills.
