What is a resistance band?

Resistance bands are wide, stretchy strips that are available in several levels of resistance, designated by different colors and ranging from very light to very heavy. Resistance bands are often used for rehabilitation exercises after injuries or surgery. The strips can be knotted into a loop when an exercise requires this, or tied securely around a column, banister, or doorknob.
Tubing/resistance bands are elastic bands of varying thickness, which determines their resistance. Thicker bands offer more resistance; thinner bands offer less resistance. Each piece of tubing comes with a handle at each end and must be secured around a strong, stable object that will act as a holder.
