Is research being done on chronic bronchitis?

There are many studies and clinical trials currently underway to help researchers learn more about chronic bronchitis. Many of these studies focus on identifying new drugs, like Avelox or Losartan, or other treatments that may help treat and perhaps reverse the damage done by chronic bronchitis. Other studies are being conducted to learn more about the origins of the disease. One study, for example, will be examining if there is a particular gene or other genetic component that has a role in causing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, in hopes of helping us better understand the role of heredity when people develop chronic bronchitis.
