For which cancers is HIPEC an appropriate treatment?

HIPEC or Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemoperfusion may be used as part of the management of patients with peritoneal surface malignancies. Cancers such as ovarian, gastric, colorectal and appendiceal, as well as mesothelioma, spread to the lining of the abdomen and pelvis and the organs within these cavities. HIPEC may be recommended in additon to cytoreductive or debulking surgical procedures.
