When should I seek immediate help if I have dental caries?

Dental caries are cavities, and you may or may not experience any pain or symptoms. If you do experience severe pain such as toothache or suspect an abscess, call your dentist right away.

Remember: Only a dentist can diagnose if you have a cavity, so be sure to schedule regular dental appointments to try and catch these problems early. Other possible symptoms of a cavity include sensitivity to hot and cold or touch, and receding gums.
