Is cat scratch disease serious?

Cat scratch disease (CSD) is not very serious and often goes away on its own without medical help. However, those who have weakened immune systems may have a more difficult recovery. Some individuals may also experience painful or irritating symptoms. In these cases, a doctor may prescribe an antibiotic to cure CSD more quickly. In rare cases, some individuals with CSD will develop eye, bone, spleen, lung or liver infections.
