Cat scratch disease (CSD) is not very serious and often goes away on its own without medical help. However, those who have weakened immune systems may have a more difficult recovery. Some individuals may also experience painful or irritating symptoms. In these cases, a doctor may prescribe an antibiotic to cure CSD more quickly. In rare cases, some individuals with CSD will develop eye, bone, spleen, lung or liver infections.
