To relieve carpal tunnel syndrome you can try conservative, nonsurgical management, such as:

  • activity modification
  • avoiding repetitive motions
  • ergonomic positioning of a computer workstation
  • use of voice recognition software
  • altering use of a computer mouse to one that is better tolerated
  • use of a splint at night
  • maintaining the wrist in extension
  • preventing wrist flexion while sleeping
