How might a health savings account be beneficial if I am a cancer survivor?

A health savings account (HSA) is a supplement to a high-deductible health insurance policy. These accounts do not replace health insurance policies. They are a pre-tax savings plan that builds funds like an individual retirement account (IRA) for payment of medical expenses. An HSA allows you to use tax-free funds to cover medical expenses not covered by your health insurance policy, such as fertility treatments, chiropractic services, eye care or acupuncture.
