What are the possible symptoms of a contusion?

A contusion is an injury to the soft tissues under your skin. This allows the red blood cells to collect under your skin causing changes in skin color.

Your child may have one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Changes in skin color (color will vary over time)
  • Pain
  • Swelling
