What is primary brain cancer?

Primary brain cancer begins in the brain. This is less common that metastatic brain cancer, which spreads to the brain from other parts of the body. Primary tumors may be caused by radiation or chemical exposure, or by certain genetic diseases. Usually, however, the cause is unknown.
