Does my job put me at risk for brain cancer?

People in some occupations show higher than usual rates of brain cancer or may have a higher risk. These include:

  • Farmers
  • Artists
  • Chemists
  • Pathologists
  • Embalmers
  • Electrical workers
  • Oil refinery workers
  • Workers who manufacture synthetic rubber, petrochemicals, or pharmaceuticals

Researchers are studying whether some jobs may raise the risk of brain cancer, including those that expose workers to pesticides, lead, solvents, and electromagnetic fields. However, no links have been proven, and scientists still don't know what causes most brain tumors.
