How do I know when to see a doctor after a knee injury?

There are several instances in which you should see an orthopedist after a knee injury. First, if you are having pain which you did not previously have, that may signal a torn meniscus, cartilage injury, or ligament tear. Also, swelling is often a sign of a knee problem. Finally, if you have not been able to return to your normal activity, you should see an orthopedist.
