Even though siderosis doesn't usually cause symptoms, you should stop smoking so you can prevent further damage to your lungs. The dust and fumes you are exposed to at work can have detrimental effects on your health. As well, these fumes can cause other conditions (e.g., silicosis) which can cause respiratory problems and make you more likely to get infectious respiratory diseases like tuberculosis (TB) and the flu. Quitting smoking will help the overall health of your lungs.
