In its simple form, black lung disease causes few, if any, symptoms. Most people who have black lung disease keep it limited to the simple form, and in these cases the prognosis is good, with few cases causing serious future problems. For people with the serious form of the illness, they may experience a continually worsening cough or breathing problems as time goes on.
