Great question and an important one for today's adolescents and their guardians. Hormonal contraception comes in many forms (to name a few: oral, injectable, pad worn on skin, device implanted under the skin, or ring that is placed in the vagina). Hormonal contraception works the same way in adolescents as is does in adults -- prevents pregnancy by reducing or stopping ovulation and/or changing the ability for a woman’s egg and a man’s sperm to meet in order for pregnancy to occur.
