How much walking is good exercise?

Any amount of walking that is 30-minutes in length or longer is great exercise. If you are unable to complete that much all in one time spurt then complete up to 15-20 minutes of consecutive walking and build. Being active is truly great exercise so be sure to complete that much and the rest will fall into place.

Research has shown that you get good health benefits from walking 150 minutes per week. You'll actually get better health benefits if you break your walks into several short walks rather than doing a few long aerobic exercise sessions. To see if you achieve this goal, log each time you briskly walk for at least 10 minutes. You'll have reached your target when you perform 15 10-minute brisk walking each week. As you get into better shape, you can increase your walking pace to increase your total distance.
