How can I improve my coordination and balance for basketball?

Improving coordination and balance is a common problem for powerful athletes especially basketball players.  They often have more strength and speed than they can control or properly decelerate.  In essence, they lack stability.  Incorporating high repetition training (12-20 repetitions) that is focused on challenging balance and coordination will improve stability.  For example, a stability program might include step-ups to single-leg balance to press, dumbbell chest press on a stability ball, standing rows on a balance board, SL shoulder raise, and lateral lunges to balance.
