Back pain is a very common medical complaint with a variety of causes. It can be acute or chronic; that is, it can last a short or long period of time. Back pain can result from any component of the back, but the most common cause is strained muscles, especially from lifting heavy weights. The baseline treatment for back pain is over-the-counter painkillers.
