What kinds of implants are used to correct arrhythmias?

The kinds of implants used to correct arrhythmias include a pacer implant or a cardiac defibrillator implant. The kind of implant used depends on the type of arrhythmia. A pacer helps set a rate that the heart must beat at, a minimum rate. A defibrillator can help shock the heart out of arrhythmias.
To correct abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias) and help your heart beat more efficiently, your doctor may recommend a device implant. The most common device implants are pacemakers and implantable cardioverter/defibrillators (ICDs). These devices are usually implanted in the cath lab but may also be implanted during surgery.
