Do canker sores affect children differently than adults?

Canker sores can occur at any age. One common cause of canker sores can be braces. If your child has braces, canker sores may return frequently and may be only one canker sore or several.
There is no difference in how canker sores affect children compared with adults. Canker sores may occur at any age but usually first appear between the ages of 10 and 40. Canker sores occur in women more often than men.
