What should I know before taking Truvada and ritonavir-boosted darunavir?

Your doctor will need to measure your cholesterol, triglycerides, liver enzymes, creatinine clearance, and uric acid before starting treatment.

If you have cirrhosis, darunavir may not be a good option for you.

If you have diabetes, darunavir and ritonavir may not be good options for you.

If you have had pancreatitis, darunavir and ritonavir may not be good options for you.

If you have a heart conduction disorder or heart disease, ritonavir may not be a good option for you.

If you have hemophilia type A or B, darunavir and ritonavir may cause increased bleeding, skin hematomas (pooling of blood under the skin), and bleeding into joint spaces.

Truvada is not approved for people with both hepatitis B and HIV infections. Also, ritonavir may not be a good option for you.

If you have severe liver impairment or hepatitis C, darunavir and ritonavir may not be good options for you.

If you have impaired kidney function, Truvada may not be a good option for you.

Truvada, darunavir, and ritonavir may not be good options for women who are pregnant or may be pregnant. It is not known if any of these drugs is safe for pregnant women.

If you have an allergy to sulfa drugs, darunavir may not be a good option for you.

You should not take Truvada, darunavir, or ritonavir if you are breastfeeding.
