What are the side effects of Abilify (aripiprazole)?

Side effects may include headaches, sleepiness, dizziness or fainting upon standing, trouble staying still, repetitive involuntary movements, anxiety, insomnia, difficulty breathing, trouble swallowing, weight gain, high blood sugar, nausea, vomiting, and constipation. Some people have developed neuroleptic malignant syndrome. Symptoms include rigid muscles, fever, and delirium. Aripiprazole and brexpiprazole can make it dangerous to drive or to operate machinery.

Some young people taking aripiprazole or brexpiprazole have had thoughts of suicide.

Older people who take antipsychotic drugs have a higher risk of death, especially from heart problems or infection.
