Are there any risks in taking calcitriol?

When taking calcitriol your doctor will monitor your calcium levels with periodic blood tests because high levels of calcium in the body can be dangerous. Women who are breastfeeding need to speak with their doctor about taking calcitriol, since this drug can pass through breast milk to a nursing infant. If you are allergic to any vitamin D product, you should not take calcitriol.
