Can Inlyta interact with other medications or foods?

Inlyta (axitinib) can interact with a number of drugs and supplements. If you are prescribed Inlyta for advanced kidney cancer, it is critical that you tell your doctor everything you are taking. Your doctor will especially watch for drugs that treat asthma, tuberculosis, seizures, bacterial infections, fungal infections, depression or HIV/AIDS because some of them can change the amount of Inlyta that gets into your blood. Grapefruits and grapefruit juice do the same thing and should be avoided.

Some of the specific medicines that may need to be adjusted or stopped if you are on Inlyta include:
  • ketoconazole
  • rifampin
  • dexamethasone
  • phenytoin
  • carbamazepine
  • rifabutin
  • rifapentin
  • phenobarbital
  • St. John's wort
